Omar Elerian

Omar Elerian ist freiberuflicher Theaterregisseur, Autor und Dramaturg. Elerian ist Italiener palästinensischer Abstammung und absolvierte seine Ausbildung in Italien, bevor er 2005 die Lecoq International Theatre School in Paris abschloss. Von 2012 bis 2019 war er Associate Director am Bush Theatre in London, wo er unter anderem folgende Stücke inszenierte: «Misty» von Arinzé Kene, «NASSIM» von Nassim Soleimanpour, das für den Olivier nominierte Stück «You're Not Like The Other Girls Chrissy» von Caroline Horton sowie das ortsspezifische Stück «The Mill: City of Dreams» für die Freedom Studios und «Autoreverse» im Battersea Arts Centre. Er führte Regie bei «The Chairs» am Almeida Theatre, «Two Palestinians Go Dogging» am Royal Court und «As You Like It» an der Royal Shakespeare Company. Im Frühjahr 2023 schloss «Misty» eine erfolgreiche Spielzeit im The Shed in New York ab. Seine Zusammenarbeit mit Nassim Soleimanpour «ECHO» wurde im Juli 2024 am Royal Court und beim LIFT uraufgeführt. «The Long Shadow of Alois Brunner» ist seine zweite Produktion mit Collective Ma'louba.

 

Omar Elerian is a freelance theatre director, writer and dramaturg. Italian of Palestinian descent, Elerian trained in Italy and then graduated from Lecoq International Theatre School in Paris in 2005. He was resident Associate Director at the Bush Theatre in London from 2012 to 2019, where he commissioned and directed hit shows including Misty by Arinzé Kene, NASSIM by Nassim Soleimanpour, the Olivier-nominated show «You’re Not Like The Other Girls Chrissy» by Caroline Horton, as well as co-creating site-specific show «The Mill: City of Dreams» for Freedom Studios and «Autoreverse» at Battersea Arts Centre. He recently directed «The Chairs» at the Almeida Theatre, «Two Palestinians Go Dogging» at The Royal Court and «As You Like It» at Royal Shakespeare Company. «Misty» completed a successful season at The Shed in New York in spring 2023. His collaboration with Nassim Soleimanpour «ECHO» premiered at Royal Court and LIFT in July 2024. «The Long Shadow of Alois Brunner» is his second production with Collective Ma’louba.
